Nivada Grenchen was founded in 1926 in Grenchen, Switzerland. But the brand’s aspirations were never to be a full-fledged “manufacture,” instead choosing to focus on sourcing established manufacturer’s movements and then crafting purpose-built pieces that were both stylish and affordable.

After succumbing to the quartz crisis and closing their proverbial doors in the early ‘80s, enthusiasts were left to cling to their vintage models and wax nostalgic. That was until 2018, when those doors were flung back open with the re-introduction of a handful of their most coveted models, including the Chronomaster, Depthmaster, and Super Antarctic, each fantastic and faithful interpretations of their predecessors.

If the Chronomaster is the icon, the Depthmaster is the style king. Unique and edge-y but with a sense of whimsy, the Depthmaster comes with its iconic Art Deco dial and memorable cushion case. A highly original and important model in dive watch history, it also comes with a screw-down case-back and crown, a unidirectional rotating diver’s bezel with 120 clicks and a 15-min scale, plus 1000 meters of water resistance secured by an automatic Helium valve.
