Product Details

In this vision of Hildegard of Bingen from 1150, God the Father has injected Him Spirit into his created world. We have the six days of creation, including the expansion of the sixth day to the right. Adam, or you and I, have emerged from the dust of the world, smelling a flower. Enjoying the beauty and goodness of this world. Then as we approach our death, we come near to the judge of this world, Jesus Christ, hopefully our Redeemer!

As always with Hildegard's mystic visions, there is a lot to ponder. Each detail has significance. For one thing, Hildegard uses a ringed gold image to represent the Father. Why the rings? And silver to represent the Holy Spirit. Why? And why is Jesus engulfed in flame? This picture is from her book Scivias, which is the first of three books she wrote on her relivfious visions. The title comes from the Latin phrase "Sci vias Domini", which means "Know the Ways of the Lord."

If you'd like to investigate this further, we recommend the website www.hildegard-society.org. This illustration is in Scivias section 2.1. Also, her books are available elsewhere. There are some newer editions with all the illustrations.

** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a white border of about 0.5" inch for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11", or 1.6" for 11x14" pictures. All Approx! Fine art printers do this because the images are almost never the same rectangular ratio of the standard paper sizes. It also gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in a frame without a matt.

- Acid-free paper
- Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.
- Cardboard backer
- Above story of the art
- Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.
